Corporate Grant Aid For Voluntary and Community Organisations
Chelmsford Borough Council
Chelmsford Borough Council’s new scheme was introduced in 2004 with grants to voluntary and community organisations now being administered at one central point rather than through different service areas.

The Council gives grants to community/voluntary organisations who can show that they help improve quality of life for Chelmsford Borough’s residents.
The scheme is open to:
* Non-profit making Community/Voluntary Organisations
* Parish Councils (Parish Councils should consider the precept mechanism before deciding to apply)
* Educational Establishments (for community projects only)

The scheme does not cover:
 Organisations seeking funding for the promotion of religious or political beliefs
 Individuals e.g. wanting support to travel or set up a new business
Organisations can apply for funding for up to £2000, from £2000 to £5000 and over £5000 in the following categories:

* One-Off Project Funding e.g. building projects
* Core Funding e.g. central or main activities
* Capital Funding e.g. buying equipment
* Revenue Funding e.g. staff, heating, lighting etc.

The Borough Council will only award 100% of costs in exceptional circumstances; requests for grants must not exceed 80% of total Core Costs, 50% of total Capital Costs and 50% of total Revenue Costs.

Applicants need to show that they help improve quality of life for Chelmsford Borough’s residents, through meeting one or more Community Plan and Corporate Plan Priorities.

This is an annual scheme and organisations looking for a grant for 2006/2007 will need to submit applications by 5pm, Friday 28 October 2005
