£200 Million Boost to Help Schools Attract & Keep Top Teachers (England)

The Department for Education is making a £200 million investment to support schools and colleges in England in attracting and retaining the teachers they need in vital subjects.

From September, up to £6000 will be available for teachers working in key STEM and technical subjects such as maths, construction engineering, and manufacturing, as well as early years education.

The incentive is being offered through the government’s levelling up premium doubling payments scheme to support schools in disadvantaged areas nationwide in recruiting and retaining the teachers they need.
