Funding Call for Research into Care Sector Labour Force Shortages (UK)

UK Research and Innovation, in partnership with the Economic and Social Research Council has announced that €900,000 of funding is being made available to help research organisations, technological and innovation institutions, universities, and other higher education institutions conduct research into labour force shortages within the care sector.

The call aims to address how new forms of technological development and digitisation have the potential to mitigate labour shortages.

Projects must address three research topics, paying particular attention to gender, ethnicity and social inclusion:

  • ‘working situation’
  • ‘role of AI’
  • ‘cross-national differences and similarities within different welfare systems’

Each proposal must involve a minimum of three eligible applicants from at least three different countries participating in the call.

A maximum of three projects in the UK will be funded.

The deadline for applications is 3pm on the 14th May 2024.
