£8.5 Million Fund to Support Community Projects that Reduce Energy Consumption (UK)

The UK's National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) has £8.5 million in funding available for community-led projects focused on the connection between energy use and climate change.

The Climate Action Fund: Energy and Climate is open for applications for community energy projects that can deliver both environmental and societal benefits. Changing the way energy is used domestically will help to reduce carbon emissions while also delivering financial, health, and wellbeing benefits for people and communities.

The funding is available to community and voluntary organisations, and the NLCF will accept applications from local partnerships, UK-wide partnerships, and single voluntary or community organisations.

Schools can also apply, however, projects should have a benefit beyond the school and involve more than just teachers, pupils or parents of pupils.

The total funding available is £8.5 million.

Projects can apply for up to £1.5 million over 2 to 5 years. The minimum grant is £500,000. The aim is to fund around 8-12 projects.

Applications can be submitted at any time. The NLCF expects the programme to remain open until early 2024 but it will depend on demand for the funding.

From the 27th March 2024 eligible organisations will be able to apply for new funding aimed at inspiring more people to take climate action.

Projects will be able to apply for up to £1.5 million over 3 to 5 years. The minimum grant will be £500,000. The aim is to fund up to 25 projects.
