New £100,000 Fund Launched to Improve Public Safety (Essex - excluding Southend and Thurrock)

Essex County Council has launched a new grant scheme to improve public safety and address violence and vulnerability in local communities.

The Community Safety Initiative Fund will allow charities, community groups, town and parish councils, and other not-for-profit organisations to bid for funding to help reduce anti-social behaviour and fund initiatives to enhance public safety in their community.

Grants of between £500 and £2,000 are available.

Projects could, for example:

  • prevent crime or reduce anti-social behaviour. Examples include improving home or personal safety or tackling crime in rural areas
  • physically improve anti-social behaviour hotspots
  • help improve safety in the night-time economy
  • prevent people becoming involved with criminal behaviour or anti-social behaviour
  • support local communities and encourage volunteering
  • support community events for over 250 people

The closing date for applications is the 12th May 2024.
