Funding to Help Boost Local Communities (South West of England, Wales, London & Midlands)

Great Western Railway (GWR) is making grants of up to £50,000 available to support local communities and address areas of social need along the train operator’s network.

GWR are particularly interested in schemes that:

  • benefit customers
  • increase rail travel
  • encourage carbon reduction
  • connect communities, people, and places
  • support economic growth
  • promote inclusion and diversity
  • educational programmes that support careers in rail or increase awareness and experience of public transport and rail safety.

Organisations that can apply include:

  • charities
  • community and voluntary groups
  • local authorities
  • schools
  • colleges
  • other not-for-profit organisations

The funding will support projects that benefit customers and open up rail travel to more communities by focusing on:

  • inclusion and diversity
  • engagement and education
  • environmental benefit
  • economic growth
  • history and heritage
  • making rail travel more accessible

The funding is made available through the GWR Customer and Community Improvement Fund which closes to applications on the 25th March 2024.
