Government Launches £250 Million Scheme to Tackle Slow Broadband Speeds in Rural Areas (UK)

£250 million in voucher funding is being made available to offer help for people with poor broadband speeds in rural areas.

The Government will provide vouchers worth up to £1,500 for homes and £3,500 for businesses to support the cost of installing new gigabit-capable connections where existing broadband speeds are less than 100Mbps. Applications can only be made when two or more residents and/or eligible small or medium size enterprises get together to combine their vouchers towards the shared cost of installation.

From 8th April applicants will be able to check whether their premises are eligible for a UK Gigabit Voucher, find a list of registered suppliers, and see those who are active in their area.
