Leicester Groups Invited to Apply for Community Grants
Voluntary and Community groups in Leicester are being invited to apply for funding through the Leicester City Council, Cultural Service's Small Community Grants programme.

These grants are available to enable people in Leicester to take part in a wide range of arts, heritage, leisure, sporting and cultural activities and events.

The Council is especially interested in applications that contribute towards the Council's Cultural Strategy and applications that target people who are disadvantaged.


Grants of around £500 are usually given, but they can be up to £1500, to small community groups who have 5 or more management committee members, a bank account and a constituion.

Grants can be used for a variety of events and activities, here are a few examples:-

A sports competition and fun day


Special celebrations e.g. Diwali, Vaisaki, Christmas, Eid


International Women's Day celebrations


A football tournament


A series of art and craft workshops


Workshops and costumes for the Caribbean Carnival


An exhibition in a museum

These are just a few examples of how the grants can be used.
