Co-op Charity Launches Third Round of the Carbon Innovation Fund (UK)

The Carbon Innovation Fund (CIF), a partnership between the Co-op Foundation and the Co-op, is now open for applications for its third round with a total of £3.5 million available for grants.

The focus of this round is to find sustainable ways to create a thriving food and farming sector, without damaging peatlands across the UK.

Funded through Co-op donations raised from the sale of compostable carrier bags, the Fund will award grants of between £50,000 and £150,000 to around ten projects.

The aim of the funding is to protect peatland by:

  • reducing the amount of peat needed to grow crops within food supply chains
  • removing the peat needed to grow crops within food supply chains
  • sustainable management / looking after peat soils by using alternative, non-damaging farming methods for crops and/or livestock

Applications are accepted from any type of organisation, of any size.

The closing date for applications is the 20th March 2024.
