Funding for Fishing & Coastal Communities (Scotland)

£14 million in funding is available to support fishing businesses and wider marine organisations in Scottish coastal communities.

The funding, which is made available through the Scottish Government’s Marine Fund Scotland, will support projects that improve the marine environment, reduce carbon emissions and support coastal communities.

Key aims will include helping to improve safety standards and upskilling the safety training of individual fishers.

Awards from the first year of the fund included supporting young fishers to purchase their first vessels, the purchase of safety equipment, enhancing sustainable fishing practices, data collection, marine litter collection, marine research, and assistance to the seafood processing and aquaculture sectors, including to implement more sustainable practices.
