Funding to Enhance Community Engagement in Planning (England)

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has launched round 2 of the PropTech Engagement Fund to help councils and the PropTech sector in England accelerate the adoption of technology to enhance community engagement within the planning process.

The selected projects will aim to demonstrate how digital citizen engagement can:

  • incentivise communities to positively engage in planning conversations
  • engage a more representative range of citizens in decision-making
  • inform the community on trade-offs and outcomes through development
  • establish meaningful baseline data and, where possible, integrate digital and traditional engagement best practice

Up to ten local authorities will be awarded with funding of up to £125,000 for individual projects or £300,000 for joint projects that address one of the following themes:

  • Local authorities are invited to apply to deliver a digital engagement project that addresses one of the following themes:

    • Theme 1: Masterplanning
    • Theme 2: Council-Led Development
    • Theme 3: Estate Regeneration
    • Theme 4: Community Development
    • Theme 5: Wildcard

Expressions of Interest should be submitted by 11:59pm on the 25th January 2022.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government will also be hosting a live Q&A session on Wednesday 12 January at 11am. Register to attend the Q&A session by 4pm on 11 January.
