Grants to Research Carbon Storage in New & Restored Habitats (England)

Grants are available to not-for-profit organisations, public bodies and businesses in England, for partnership-led pilot projects to research carbon storage in new and restored habitats.

The funding is made available by the Environment Agency through the Habitat Creation Grant which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote carbon sequestration.

The fund will be administered by Natural England, which will work with successful pilot projects to carry out research and monitoring to compare carbon storage and uptake across different habitats of different ages in an area of at least 500 hectares in size, including native woodland, peaty pockets, hedgerows, heath, fen, and semi-natural grassland.

The closing date for applications is midday on the 29th August 2022.
