Co-op Charity Launches Next Round of Carbon Innovation Fund (UK)

The Coop Foundation has announced that the Carbon Innovation Fund (CIF) is now open for applications for its second round, with a total of £3.5 million available for grants ranging from £75,000 to £200,000. The focus of the fund is to reduce reliance on soy-based animal or fish feed and synthetic fertilisers, and to create a more sustainable and equitable food and farming industry.

To be eligible for funding, organisations must have a project aimed at reducing reliance on soy-based animal or fish feed and synthetic fertilisers and must provide evidence of a completed pilot. Co-op suppliers are also welcome to apply and a sum of £100,000 has been set aside specifically for supplier applicants.

Round one of the CIF saw £1.4 million in grants being awarded to organisations working towards decreasing carbon emissions in the food, farming, and aquaculture industries.

The Coop Foundation expect to make between five and 10 grants in total.

The closing date for stage 1 applications is the 3rd March 2023.
