Final Round of Building Strong Communities Fund Opens for Applications (London)

The Mayor of London has announced the final round of the Building Strong Communities Fund to support communities as they recover from the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic. This round of funding is aimed at equity-led charities and voluntary organisations with an annual turnover of £50,000 or less, providing grants of up to £6,000 to support community-led activities and projects.

Equity-led organisations are organisations led and controlled by members of marginalised or underrepresented communities, such as people of colour, women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and people with disabilities.

The fund is designed to help those who have been most affected by the pandemic and cost-of-living crisis, including marginalised communities who already experience long-term inequality and disadvantage in areas such as health, employment, housing, and access to green space. The focus is on promoting community-led initiatives that address these challenges and empower these communities.

Previously funded projects include a lunch club for older residents, smart cooking workshops for asylum seekers, and a community food growing hub. The deadline for applications is 1pm on the 13th March 2023, and interested organisations are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
