Grants of up to £75,000 Available to Modernise Village Halls (England)

Village halls across England can now apply for grants of between £7,500 and £75,000 to improve and modernise their facilities up to a maximum of 20 per cent of eligible project costs. 

The Platinum Jubilee Village Hall Fund has been launched in England to provide capital grants to improve and modernize their facilities. The fund is managed by Action with Communities in Rural England (ACRE) and aims to support around 125 village halls over a three-year period.

The fund will be open to applications from projects that aim to:

  • improve health and/or wellbeing and/or reduction in rural loneliness,
  • have a positive impact on the local environment, contributes towards net zero,
  • support the local rural economy,
  • promote community cohesion.

The grants will be used to support infrastructure improvements, refurbish facilities such as kitchens and toilets, and improve energy efficiency.

There is a two-step application process for the fund. the closing date for stage 1 applications is 20th January 2023. Applicants who are successful at Stage 1 will be invited to completed a Stage 2 application.  Applications will be assessed in March 2023.
