£26 Million Government Funding for Innovative Biomass Projects (UK)

In an effort to help the UK reach net zero by 2050, the Government has launched Phase 2 of their Biomass Feedstocks Innovation Programme, to increase production of sustainable biomass that can be used to power homes and businesses.

This round of funding is open to applications from projects previously supported under Phase 1 of the programme. The projects will be taken from the design stage through to the demonstration stage, showcasing new methods to grow biomass feedstock such as algae, seaweed and hemp, which can be used to produce low-carbon energy.

Each project will be able to bid for up to £4 million in funding, or up to £5 million for bids from the multi-site demonstrator projects.

No application deadline has been given.
