Funding for Local Nature Projects (Wales)

The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the Welsh Government are seeking applications to the Local Places for Nature grant programme to enable communities in Wales to create, restore and enhance nature in their local area.

Grants of between £10,000 and £250,000 are available to not-for-profit organisations for community-based capital projects in towns and cities, in the marine environment, and where people live, work or spend their leisure time.

This funding is primarily for:

  • projects located or servicing the needs of communities in the 50% most deprived areas OR
  • community food growing projects anywhere in Wales OR
  • organisations/groups representing a black, Asian or minority ethnic community from any part of Wales

The programme is offering two levels of grant: 

  1. £10,000–£100,000 for capital projects that will acquire, restore and enhance nature in areas of deprivation.
  2. £100,000-£250,000 for projects located in or near one of the 50% most deprived communities or if the project is engaging with a specific need.

Deprivation is measured using the overall deprivation measure in the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation. Please use a postcode to check your eligibility against the overall deprivation measure using the interactive map

Applications are open until further notice or until all the grant monies have been allocated
