Big Society Capital has launched a call for new ideas that will use social impact investment to address social issues in the UK. The Ideas for Impact initiative will offer charities, social enterprises and fund managers up to £30,000 of development funding and related support for ideas with the greatest potential to transform people's lives.
Social impact investment is the provision of finance to organisations addressing social needs with the expectation of a measurable social, as well as financial, return.
The funding is intended to help sustainable enterprises to test new business models that will help tackle the issues that are affecting vulnerable people, and have potential to scale in future. Ideas could relate to changing a part of the existing investment system or bringing together partners in new ways.
Big Society Capital will be hosting a webinar on Thursday 4 February at 11am-12.30pm to discuss what they are looking for alongside an expert panel of speakers sharing their experience of developing an idea into an investable proposition.
The deadline for applications is 12pm on the 1st March 2021.
