£160 Million Support Boost for Families Struggling with Food & Utility Costs (England)

The Department for Work and Pensions has announced an extension to the Covid Local Support Grant. The boost is worth an extra £160 million to families in England who are struggling with food, key utility costs and other essentials.

The scheme will now run until the end of September 2021, in line with the end of other Covid-related support. Councils will be able to continue to provide support and adapt their offer to suit the needs of families. Since the beginning of the scheme, support has included food vouchers and help with heating costs.

Those in need are encouraged to contact their council.
