European Cultural Foundation Launches Europe Challenge (UK & Europe)

The European Cultural Foundation has launched an open call for their 2022 Europe Challenge which bring libraries and communities together to define their most pressing challenges, and supports them to find ways to tackle these.

Europe today faces great challenges: war, polarisation, disinformation, climate & energy crises. To respond to these challenges, people of Europe must lead the way.  Libraries, with their connections to communities and to municipalities and local governments provide safe spaces where people can come together as well as access to trusted information and knowledge.

Communities & libraries taking part will benefit from funding of up to 10,000 EUR to support projects that will make a positive change and address challenges facing communities.

Project support including planning, financial, methodological and communications guidance will also be provided.

Every library in Europe is eligible to apply, from public libraries, to mobile, rural, school, university, and prison libraries, municipal and national libraries.

Applications should be submitted by both a library and community group.

The closing date for applications is the 27th May 2022.
