New Round of Government Funding for Protect the Countryside (England)

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs has announced that the Countryside Stewardship Facilitation Fund has opened to applications.

The £2.5 million scheme encourages collaboration and knowledge-sharing amongst the farming community in England. To apply, farmers, foresters and other land managers must submit plans showing how they will work together and share knowledge to protect and enhance their local environment.

This year’s fund will prioritise projects focused on the improvement of air quality through slurry removal, tree planting, the reduction of ammonia emissions, and managing beaver activity that will offer support and advice for landowners when beavers move onto their land.

The fund will close to applications on the 2nd February 2022.
