£5 Million Government Scheme for Technologies Producing Hydrogen from Biomass (UK)

The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategygovernment has launched a new £5 million programme for innovative technology which produces clean energy from waste.

The Hydrogen BECCS Innovation Programme will support the development of innovative technologies that will generate hydrogen from biomass and waste feedstocks via bioenergy carbon capture and storage (BECCS). Applicants from small businesses and large companies to research institutions and universities can apply for grants of up to £250,000 under Phase 1 of the programme to help develop their project plans and demonstrate the feasibility of their proposed innovation. Projects that move onto phase 2 will receive further funding to demonstrate their technology.

Applicants have until 12 noon on the 4th March 2022 to access the phase 1 application form. The deadline for applications is 12 noon on the 11th March 2022.
