Grants to Encourage Outdoor Learning (Scotland)

In response to the negative impact Covid-19 has had on the delivery of education in Scotland, the Scottish Government, in partnership with YouthLink Scotland, has launched the Covid-19 Outdoor Education Recovery Fund.

The £500,000 fund aims to support outdoor education specialists to deliver outdoor learning in partnership with schools or other formal education settings. Third and private sector organisations that provide curricular-relevant outdoor learning opportunities to children and young people aged 3-18 years can apply for funding.

The proposed outdoor learning experiences should achieve at least two of the following outcomes for young people:

  • Improved physical and mental health and wellbeing.
  • Development of skills for life.
  • Improved learner engagement.
  • Progress in related Curriculum for Excellence areas and subjects.
  • Improved connection with and appreciation of, nature and place.

Activities should also help staff to develop confidence and experience in relation to supporting outdoor learning.

The deadline for applications is 12pm on the 14th May 2021.
