The Stobart Sustainability Fund supports community-led environmental and sustainability projects across the UK. It focuses on initiatives addressing climate change, reducing carbon emissions, and protecting the environment. The fund is open to not-for-profit organisations, community groups and educational facilities, such as schools and colleges.

A total of £1 million is available to support community groups and schools in deprived areas of the UK to protect and restore nature in their local area. The Save Our Wild Isles Community Fund is a crowdfunding initiative that will give £2 for every £1 raised by each project. A wide range of nature projects can be supported. This can include restoring and protecting local habitats, promoting pro-environmental behaviours at the community level and connecting local communities to nature and each other. Applications can be made at any time until all funding has been allocated.

The International Tree Foundation (ITF) was founded in Kenya in 1924 as ‘Watu wa Miti’ (People of the Trees), by Richard St Barbe Baker and 50 volunteers. ITF’s mission is to plant, protect and promote trees in partnership with local communities. The UK Community Tree Planting Programme aims to support community projects that will: Create and conserve indigenous trees and woodlands, forests, habitats and associated biodiversity; Foster community engagement in tree planting to promote reforestation and to increase awareness of the importance of trees and forests to environmental and human well-being; Encourage social cohesion and inclusion.

The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK, dedicating to promoting excellence in science for the benefit of humanity. Through the Funding for School Climate & Biodiversity Projects programme the society aims to give students across the UK not just a voice, but an opportunity to take action themselves to address climate and biodiversity issues – to become the climate scientists of tomorrow. Schools can apply for grants of up to £3,000 to run investigative STEM projects in partnership with STEM professionals from academia or industry. 

One Community is the Community Foundation for the people of Kirklees and exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Collective Power Fund the foundation provides funding of between £500 and £3,000 to local charities, community groups and volunteer-led groups to tackle a range of environmental issues.

One Community is the Community Foundation for the people of Kirklees and exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Hirst Brierley Fund (Kirklees) the foundation supports activities that will reduce climate change, for example through energy efficiency, renewable energy or creation and management of green spaces. The fund will provide grants of up to £3000 to fund in whole or in part projects such as: Energy efficiency in lighting or heating; Insulation or window improvement; Renewable energy; Tree planting or creation of green spaces; Land or river management.

South Yorkshire's Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Tween Bridge Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund the foundation provides grants of between £500 and £7,500 to community groups close to the Tween Bridge Wind Farm with projects that benefit residents of: Thorne and Moorends; parts of Hatfield, Hatfield Woodhouse, Sandtoft, Fosterhouses, Stainforth, Ealand, Fishlake, Crowle and Belton and other settlements within the defined 3-mile radius of the wind farm.

South Yorkshire's Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Blackstone Edge Wind Farm Community Benefits Fund the foundation provides grants of between £1,000 and £25,000 to projects and initiatives, with the following priorities: Advancement of education, culture or science; Encouraging public participation in a sport involving physical skill and exertion; The promotion of civic responsibility, volunteering, citizenship or community development; Environmental protection or improvement Bio-diversity and habitat conservation; Energy conservation and sustainable transport options

The Climate Action Fund will support communities across the UK to take action on climate change. These communities will demonstrate what is possible when people take the lead in tackling climate change. With National Lottery funding, they will work together, share their learning and be active participants in a broader movement of change.

Enovert Community Trust (formerly Cory Environmental Trust in Britain) is an Environmental body which supports community and environmental projects. The Trust awards grants under the terms of the Landfill Communities Fund (LCF), providing funding to a broad range of projects that have a positive impact on local communities. The Trust is committed to supporting community and environmental projects across the UK. These include improving community halls, the creation of new play areas and skate parks, and restoring green spaces. Fundraising by applicants is looked upon favourably by the Trustees. Applicants will need to secure a 10% third party contribution which will be payable to Enovert Limited prior to the project commencing.

Through the Sustainable Future Programme, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) aims to support work that develops and promotes sustainable, low-carbon alternatives to the current consumerist and growth-based paradigm. Funded projects will focus on: Better economics that reflect the true costs and risks of resource depletion, climate change and other environmental problems: Campaigns, initiatives and work that promote alternatives to consumerism: Campaigns and movements that give a voice to young activists and marginalised groups on issues of economic and environmental justice.

Community Foundation for Calderdale (CCFC) is one of 48 community foundations across the UK. CFFC is dedicated to enabling organisations to increase their community, economic and environmental impact, by providing grant aid and tailored loans to not-for-profit organisations in Calderdale. Support generally falls under the broad heading of social welfare. Applications must demonstrate a strong case for support, have clear aims and objectives, and, wherever possible, the applicant organisation or project will be user led and make a real difference to people within the community. CCFC is able to fund a wide range of project costs including capital or revenue and supports many different types of activity all of which contributes to making Calderdale an even better place to live.

Lincolnshire Community Foundation (LCF) is one of 48 community foundations across the UK. The Foundation covers the Historic County of Lincolnshire, including the former South Humberside and makes grants to people and projects from the Humber to the Wash. LCF also provides consultancy and support: business planning, feasibility studies, advice on co funding, participative design (the TENEO package), eco refurbishment, renewable energy and project management (PRINCE 2). The Foundation's aim is to provide funding that will directly address the needs of Lincolnshire's most vulnerable people and communities by applying funds and resources to mobilise local communities at all levels, from setting up a self-help group to building a successful social enterprise. Support generally falls under the broad heading of social welfare.

Ashden is a charity that champions and supports the leaders in sustainable energy to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon world. The Ashden School Awards are looking for schools in the UK that can demonstrate real achievements in making their buildings and grounds more sustainable, and integrating sustainability into their culture and curriculum.

The Woodland Trust has free tree packs to give away to schools, community and youth groups. The free tree packs are available for planting on one publicly accessible site. Packs will be awarded on a first come first serve basis. All applicants need to do is find a suitable site and supply the volunteer planters and tree protection. Tree packs for schools and communities offer the perfect opportunity to bring people together to plant trees - encouraging local wildlife, protecting our landscape against tree disease and creating beautiful wooded areas that people can enjoy for years to come.

Grants are available to support projects that increase the understanding and appreciation, particularly among young people, of the environmental, social, and economic potential of trees, woodlands and forests and of the link between the tree and everyday wood products. Eligible project costs include hire of people, for example, supply teachers, advice, training hire or purchase of materials, machinery or services and paying for printing and publicity for projects. There is also a special grant for development work. Only Forest Education Initiative Cluster Groups are eligible to apply.

Reaching Communities provide grants to help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need, including hard to reach communities. There is a small revenue and a capital scheme and a larger buildings only fund. All projects must address one or more of the following outcomes. People have better chances in life, with better access to training and development to improve their life skills;  Stronger communities, with more active citizens, working together to tackle their problems;  Improved rural and urban environments, which communities are better able to access and enjoy; and Healthier and more active people and communities.

Awards for All, England offers grants of between £300 and £20,000 for projects that improve communities, and the lives of people within them. It is for voluntary and community groups, schools and health organisations, parish and town councils.  To do this Awards for All fund projects that meet one or more of the following outcomes: People have better chances in life - with better access to training and development to improve their life skills; Stronger communities - with more active citizens working together to tackle their problems; Improved rural and urban environments - which communities are better able to access and enjoy; and Healthier and more active people and communities.
