Blood Cancer UK - Project Grants (UK) Bloodwise is a UK based charity dedicated to funding research into all blood cancers including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as to offering information and support to blood cancer patients. Funding is available for laboratory-based research projects and clinical trials. Project grants are awarded for up to £280,000 and up to three years for clearly defined research projects addressing key questions in the field of blood cancer. The remit of the project grant scheme includes research projects that maximise the value and outcome of a clinical trial and specifically includes applications that would previously have been considered through the Trial-Associated Research Project scheme. |

Through the Ann Rylands Small Donations programme the Trust recognises the humanitarian work of smaller charities. Inman Charity (UK) Grants totalling £250,000 per year are available to registered charities in the UK for projects with a social welfare focus and those working with disadvantaged people. The Directors are particularly interested in supporting the following areas of charitable work: Medical research; care of the elderly; general welfare; hospices; the deaf and blind; care of the physically & mentally disabled; and the Armed Forces. |

The Hodge Foundation (UK) The Hodge Foundation provides grants of up to £100,000 to UK registered or exempt charities such as special needs schools and universities for projects that address the objectives of the Foundation. This includes supporting charities working with people who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged and who need assistance to improve their lives; education and learning, both within formal school settings and practical approaches to learning which support young people to fulfill their potential and thrive including those with special needs; medical related charities specialising in the treatment and support for specific illnesses and research; and providing funds towards projects such as facilities in church buildings and inclusive activities for the wider community.

Alzheimer’s Society – Accelerator Fund (UK) The Alzheimer’s Society is the only UK charity that campaigns for change, funds research to find a cure and supports people living with dementia today. The Accelerator Programme is a new initiative to support ‘innovators’ such as engineers, designers, developers and entrepreneurs who have ideas that will improve the lives of people affected by dementia, so that basic products or services can be turned into a reality as soon as possible. Four awards of up to £100,000 will be awarded each year and successful applicants will be supported by an expert innovation buddy from the Alzheimer’s Society to develop their idea during a 12-month partnership. |

Denise Coates Foundation (England) The Denise Coates Foundation was previously known as the bet365 Foundation and provides grants to registered charities in England to support their work locally, nationally or internationally. The Foundation provides funding of between £20,000 and £250,000 for charitable projects in the following areas: Health and Wellbeing; Education and Training; Medical research and development; Disaster recovery and emergency relief; Community Development; Arts and Culture. The trust does not currently maintain a website or email account. To apply, a formal application and presentation will need to be made to the Trustees. |

The Cruach Trust (UK) The Cruach Trust is a small Scottish charity that aims to make a difference with its donations. Although the Trust has a preference for supporting gardeners, retired gardeners and for preserving gardens throughout the United Kingdom, donations can be made to a wide range of organisations with charitable objectives in the UK and abroad. Previous grants have been awarded to support horticultural apprenticeships; gardens, wildlife and the natural environment; music, the arts and cultural charities; medical research and support and to organisations working with children, the elderly and vulnerable. |

The Kirby Laing Foundation (UK) The Kirby Laing Foundation supports a wide range of Charities in the UK and abroad and has a particular interest in: Promotion of the Evangelical Christian faith: Education particularly science and engineering and youth development: Medical research particularly concerning dementia and stroke: social/medical welfare projects: Preservation of cultural/environmental heritage and improving access to the arts for young people: Overseas development projects. The trust operates a reactive small grants programme that is open to applications and a larger grants programme that is invitation only. A significant percentage of the grants awarded are for one-off capital purposes; most other grants are directed at specific projects meeting a clearly defined need, which cannot be met from statutory sources. |

The Frazer Trust (England and Wales) The Frazer Trust makes grants in a wide range of areas including special/primary and secondary schools. In recent years almost a quarter of funding has gone to medical and other research. During 2019/2020 the Trust awarded 360 grants with a total value of £553,350 to organisations in the UK. |

Pink Ribbon Foundation (UK) The Pink Ribbon Foundation funds breast cancer charities that support people suffering from breast cancer, in the form of financial assistance, care, advice, emotional and practical support. It also seeks to promote awareness and understanding of breast cancer, primarily by funding research into causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Priority will be given to; programmes that work to promote a positive view of breast cancer; applications from Black, Minority and Ethnic (BME) communities; groups who support and encourage volunteers; and organisations dealing with exceptional circumstances. |

Sir Cliff Richard Charitable Trust Grant (UK) The Sir Cliff Richard Charitable Trust is the channel through which Sir Cliff directs his personal charitable support. Grants are made by the trust every quarter, with about 50 different registered charities benefiting each time. Priority is given to charities working in medical research, with children and the elderly, and those involved with the physically and/or mentally disabled. While these form the main focus, other charities do receive help from time to time. The funding amount is discretionary and applications may be submitted at any time. |

James Tudor Foundation Grant (UK) The James Tudor Foundation makes grants, gifts and loans to small to medium sized registered charities within the United Kingdom who have been established for at least two years and that can maximise the effectiveness of its donations. The grants are for charitable purposes across five programme areas: palliative care, medical research, health education, the direct relief of sickness, overseas projects for the relief of sickness and the fulfilment of their charitable objects by other means. The Foundation expects to make donations of up to £1 Million a year. Grants for under £5,000 will be made within one month, grants that exceed £10,000 may take up to four months to process. |

Alan Babette Sainsbury Charitable Fund Grant (UK) The Alan Babette Sainsbury Charitable Fund Grant provides grants to registered charities that focus on: arts and education projects which help young people to achieve their potential, particularly within Southwark, from where proposals are particularly encouraged; support for UK charities which defend civil liberties and human rights; projects in the developing world, especially Africa, which maximise educational and employment opportunities for young people; areas of scientific and medical research on Type 1 diabetes. Sobell Foundation Grant (UK) The Sobell Foundation Grant focuses on children, the sick, elderly, needy and disabled. The Trustees aim to achieve a reasonable spread between Jewish charities (operating principally in the U.K. and Israel) and non-Jewish charities operating in the UK. The foundation concentrate their funding on small national or local charities. Funding is restricted to charities working in the following areas: Medical care and treatment, including respite care and hospices, Care for physically and mentally disabled adults and children, Education and training for adults and children with physical and learning disabilities, Care and support of the elderly, Care and support for children and Homelessness. Cure Parkinson's Trust Grant (UK) The Cure Parkinson's Trust is a patient led charity that funds research which will have an impact on the lives of people with Parkinson's, with the hope of an eventual cure for the condition. Its primary role is identifying, funding and evaluating research projects, as well as hosting scientific forums to bring together relevant scientists within the field, to discuss key areas of research and technology. Parkinson's is a degenerative neurological condition that dramatically affects movement, so every day actions become increasingly difficult and eventually impossible. The disease is currently said to be incurable, an opinion The Cure Parkinson's Trust is determined to challenge. The Cure Parkinson's Trust is particularly interested in projects that will make a tangible difference to people living with Parkinson's within five years. |

Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (UK) The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign (MDC) is the leading UK charity providing support for more than 60 different muscular dystrophies and related neuromuscular conditions affecting 70,000 people. The charities medical research programme has a reputation of excellence investing up to £1million each year, with more than 20 live projects taking place at any one time. It also invests in the scientists of the future, funding PhD studentships in top UK universities, and in specialist advice and education for clinicians with training and clinical fellowships. Applications for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA), Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Becker muscular dystrophy, Ullrich muscular dystrophy, myotonic dystrophy, facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSH), limb girdle muscular dystrophies, myasthenia gravis and Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease are particularly welcome. |

Action Medical Research Grant Programmes (UK) Action Medical Research is a grant giving charity that provides funding for vital medical research in hospitals or research institutions across the UK. The focus is on child health to include problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and young people. A broad spectrum of research is supported with the objective of preventing disease and disability and alleviating physical disability. The emphasis is on clinical research but the research and development of equipment and techniques to improve diagnosis, therapy and assistive technology (including orthoses, prostheses and aids to daily living) can also be funded. |

Sir Halley Stewart Trust Grants Programmes (UK) The Sir Halley Stewart Trust is a grant-giving foundation concerned with the development of people's minds, bodies and spirits, and promotes a just environment and international good will. The Trust is underpinned by Christian values, but welcomes applications from other faith and non-faith projects. It has a particular focus on supporting innovative research projects and new pioneering development projects, in religious, social, and medical fields (mainly in the UK) with Education being a theme that runs across all three grant-making areas, it emphasises prevention rather than alleviation of human suffering. |

Leverhulme Trust - Emeritus Fellowships (UK) Emeritus Fellowships provide research expenses of up to £24,000 for a period of between three months and two years to enable senior researchers who have retired from an academic post to complete a research project and prepare the results for publication. Funding is available to cover: Travel and subsistence costs for periods away from home; the employment of a research, clerical or secretarial assistant to support the work of the applicant; Photocopies; Photographic expenses; Office or laboratory consumables. Funding is not available for the studies of disease, illness and disabilities in humans and animals, or research that is intended to inform clinical practice or the development of medical applications. |
