The Northamptonshire Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Burton Wold Community Wind Farm Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £5,000 to small, locally managed, voluntary, community or self-help groups for a variety of educational, environmental, charitable and general community amenity projects and will be available for the lifetime of the Burton Wold Community Wind Farm.

The International Tree Foundation (ITF) was founded in Kenya in 1924 as ‘Watu wa Miti’ (People of the Trees), by Richard St Barbe Baker and 50 volunteers. ITF’s mission is to plant, protect and promote trees in partnership with local communities. The UK Community Tree Planting Programme aims to support community projects that will: Create and conserve indigenous trees and woodlands, forests, habitats and associated biodiversity; Foster community engagement in tree planting to promote reforestation and to increase awareness of the importance of trees and forests to environmental and human well-being; Encourage social cohesion and inclusion.

The Garfield Weston Foundation is a charitable grant-making foundation, which supports a wide range of causes across the UK, donating over £90 million annually. Through the Projects/Specific Activity Grant programme the foundation provides funding for a specific project or area of the applicant organisations work. It will have a defined scope of work and timetable, for example: a theatre’s outreach project with marginalised communities over a nine month period; a health organisation’s advice and information service over two years. Grants vary depending on the total cost and scope of the project however grants tend to be 10–20% of the  total project cost.

The Garfield Weston Foundation is a charitable grant-making foundation, which supports a wide range of causes across the UK, donating over £90 million annually. Through the Operating/Core Costs grants programme the foundation provides funding towards the general costs of running an organisation. This means they can be used to help pay the organisations bills or rent and provide support towards salaries.

Sea Changers is a UK charity, through the Innovation Fund Sea Changers provides up to £30,000 of funding to support ideas that are new and/or experimental solutions in the field of marine conservation. This includes any innovation that may: Address the root causes of marine conservation threats and challenges in the UK; Prevent or reduce negative impacts on UK coastal and marine environments and/or species;  Add to the body of knowledge about marine conservation threats and challenges in the UK and ways to overcome them.

The Artemis Charitable Foundation makes donations to charities operating in the UK and internationally primarily in four key areas; health; education; poverty; and the environment.

The Dischma Charitable Trust provides grants to organisations in England and Wales that require funding for projects that fall into the following categories: Education/training; The Advancement Of Health Or Saving Of Lives; Disability; The Prevention Or Relief Of Poverty; Overseas Aid/famine Relief; Arts/culture/heritage/science; Animals; Environment/conservation/heritage.

Trees for Climate is a multi-million pound woodland creation programme. Trees for Climate is delivered by the 13 Community Forests across England, who have extensive experience in supporting landowners to establish and manage woodlands. Trees for Climate grant funding can cover the costs of woodland creation, fencing, paths and other infrastructure, and ongoing maintenance for up to 15 years. Design, planning and planting support from professional woodland advisors is also available.

Heart of Bucks provides a variety of grant programmes for charities and community groups in Buckinghamshire. Through their Green Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £10,000 to voluntary and community groups in Buckinghamshire, for projects designed to improve the environment and/or public spaces for the benefit of local residents.

The Regional Woodland Restoration Innovation Fund is part of the Governments Nature for Climate Fund and aims to improve woodland habitat and increase their resilience to pests, diseases and climate change. The Woods into Management Forestry Innovation Funds are aimed at forestry businesses and conservation organisations in England who are in a position to help owners better manage their existing woodlands. There will be a number of funds based in the regions of England.

England Woodland Creation Offer is one of a suite of Forestry Commission initiatives to support woodland creation and tree planting across England. Landowners, land managers and public bodies can apply to the England Woodland Creation Offer for support to create new woodland, including through natural colonisation, on areas as small as 1 hectare. The grant will cover standard capital costs for tree planting (up to a per hectare cap), as well as rewarding farmers and landowners for providing public and/or wider environmental benefits.

The Prince of Wales’s Charitable Fund is a grant making organisation which aims to transform lives and build sustainable communities across the UK by funding a wide range of good causes within their core funding themes: Heritage & Conservation, Education, Health & Wellbeing, Social Inclusion, Environment and Countryside. The Major Grants Programme will award grants of over £5,000 to not-for-profit organisations. Organisations can apply for major grants by invitation only.

The People's Postcode Trust is a grant-giving body funded by players of the Peoples Postcode Lottery. The small grants scheme distributes funds to small organisations, community groups and registered charities in the East of England, through grants ranging from £500 - £20,000. The Trust funds projects that: Improve mental wellbeing; Enable community participation in the arts; Support marginalised groups and promote equality; Improve biodiversity & green spaces; Enable participation in physical activity; Respond to the climate emergency & promote sustainability; Increase community access to outdoor space.

The HDH Wills 1965 Charitable Trust was originally created by the late Sir David Wills MBE. The Trust is an independent grant-making charity that supports general, environmental and wildlife charities. Through the Martin Wills Wildlife Maintenance grant programme the charity provides grants of between £1,000 and £2,000 to support the conservation and maintenance for the benefit of the public of the natural environment and its indigenous woodland flora and fauna with particular reference to the conservation and maintenance of the character and amenity of rural areas.

The Cambridgeshire Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Amey Community Fund the foundation provides grants for the provision, maintenance or improvement of a public park or other general public amenity; the conservation of a specific species or a specific habitat where it naturally occurs OR the repair, maintenance or restoration of a Place of Worship or a Place of Architectural Importance.

The Schroder Charity Trust is an independent grant-making Family Trust that has been supporting the charitable and voluntary sector for over 70 years.   The Trust makes grants in the areas of Arts, Culture and heritage; Environment and Conservation; Strengthening Communities; Education, Training and Employment; Health and Wellbeing.

The Bedfordshire and Luton Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the London Luton Airport Near Neighbours Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £5,000 to community groups/charities whose work addresses the following key priorities: Safer and Stronger Communities; Environment and Economic Development green spaces; Health and Wellbeing; Children and Young People in the following areas: Central Bedfordshire,  North Herts, St. Albans, Dacorum, Stevenage, Eastern parts of Aylesbury Vale District and also some neighbouring villages

The Buckinghamshire Community Foundation exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Flood Recovery and Awareness Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £10,000 to support capital, revenue and project costs and expenditure which must relate to flood damage/prevention or awareness in the form of training or education.

The D’Oyly Carte Charitable Trust was established in for the advancement of the arts, health and medical welfare and environmental protection or improvement.   Through the Environment programme the Trust aims to protect the countryside, species and habitats as well as well as the UKs heritage and rural crafts and skills.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs is the UK government department responsible for safeguarding our natural environment, supporting our world-leading food and farming industry, and sustaining a thriving rural economy. Through the Woodland Carbon Guarantee Scheme Defra is working with the Forestry Commission to encourage farmers and landowners to plant more trees and create new woodland in return for payments as those trees grow. Successful participants will be offered the option to sell Woodland Carbon Units to the government over 35 years at a guaranteed price set by auction

The Ernest Cook Trust is an educational charity who aim to help the nation better understand the environment. The Apprenticeships and Scholarships programme provides funding to organisations that offer work-based training and education to young people enabling them to learn skills and fulfil their potential. Apprenticeship and scholarship programmes should have an emphasis on environmental engagement for example education about the land, food production, climate change, engineering technology, renewable energy, understanding nature and biodiversity. Grants of between £500 and £10,000 per student per year are available.

The Ernest Cook Trust is an educational charity who aim to help the nation better understand the environment. The Outdoor Learning Officer Grant programme will provide funding of up to £15,000 per year (estimated as 50% of a full time salary) to charities and non-profit organisations that want to employ learning officers/outdoor educators who can: encourage others to create deep lasting connections with the natural environment; Engage people to enjoy the outdoors and connect with nature; Educate communities; Enable society to understand the damaging effects of activities that harm the environment; Extend participation to hard to reach groups; Embed an understanding of environmental issues and promote sustainable behaviour.

The Woodroffe Benton Foundation is an independent grant making foundation for charities operating in the UK. It supports work that falls into the following categories: tackle poverty, provide care for the elderly, promote education and support environmental projects. Applications are welcome from UK charitable organisations for funding of between £500 and £2,500. The trustees prefer to contribute to core operating costs rather than a specific project. Applications are considered at quarterly meetings in January, April, July and October.

The Prince's Countryside Fund gives grants to projects that have a positive impact upon rural areas. The Rural Four – Catalyst, collaborate, create and champion grant programme aims to: Reinvigorate community networks by assisting with rebuilding community assets; Improve the health and well-being of 200 socially isolated people through providing access to improved community assets and a network of support; Create a lasting legacy of support and community spirit in the areas where support is provided. The programme will support up to 10 rural communities a year with funding of up to £25,000

WRAP are world leaders in helping organisations achieve greater resource efficiency. The UK Circular Plastics Flagship Project Competition aims to support the delivery of the Government’s target of achieving zero avoidable plastic waste by the end of 2042, and the objectives of the UK Plastics Pact by 2025. These objectives are: 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable; 70% of plastic packaging effectively recycled or composted; eliminate problematic or unnecessary single use packaging; a minimum of 30% average recycled content across all plastic packaging. The grant funds will support new pioneering industry led collaborative projects, focussed on unlocking the most critical, short-term barriers to improving plastics circularity, finding new innovative solutions and interventions that will remove or overcome these barriers.

The Dream Fund has been developed to give charities the chance to deliver the project they have always dreamed of, but never had the opportunity to bring to life. The Dream Fund allows charities to apply for up to £1 million to deliver their ‘dream’ project over 24 months. Applications must come from a collaboration of at least two organisations. The fund supports charities to develop innovative solutions to society’s most challenging problems. Applications that can score highly in their originality, ambition and collaborative nature stand the highest chances of being successful.

The Scottish Power Foundation provides support for charities and not for profit organisations across the UK. Funding is available for the following purposes: the advancement of education; the advancement of environmental protection; the advancement of the arts, heritage, culture or science; the prevention or relief of poverty and the relief of those in need by reason of disability or other disadvantage; the advancement of citizenship and community development.

Through Charity Pot and the Carbon Tax, LUSH, the handmade cosmetics company, offers grants and funding to small grassroots charities and campaign groups that are working in the areas of animal protection, the environment and human rights. LUSH prefers to fund causes that are unpopular and often overlooked by other funders; they also prefer projects that create long-term change and that aim to stop abuse from happening in the first place. For example, by funding a project that aims to stop deforestation rather than one that aims to plant trees to restore an area that has already been deforested. Grants are available of between £100 and £10,000 with the average grant being in the region of £4,000.

The Cruach Trust is a small Scottish charity that aims to make a difference with its donations. Although the Trust has a preference for supporting gardeners, retired gardeners and for preserving gardens throughout the United Kingdom, donations can be made to a wide range of organisations with charitable objectives in the UK and abroad. Previous grants have been awarded to support horticultural apprenticeships; gardens, wildlife and the natural environment; music, the arts and cultural charities; medical research and support and to organisations working with children, the elderly and vulnerable.

The H&M Conscious Foundation Global Change Awards fund early stage ideas that present new environmentally friendly approaches that reinvent the fashion industry. This means changing the way garments are designed and produced, shipped, bought, used and recycled. The competition has three categories: circular business models, circular materials and circular processes. Global Change Award is open for anyone over 18 to apply. It is also open for institutions, organisations and social businesses. Five winners, will share a €1 million grant and get access to an innovation accelerator provided by H&M Foundation, Accenture and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm.

DEFRA's Forestry Innovation Fund is a nationwide £1 million fund to support schemes that will promote the growth of the forest industry in their region. The Woodland Creation Planning Grant (WCPG) is financed by this fund. WCPG is not part of Countryside Stewardship which provides other funding opportunities for creating and managing woodland. WCPG contributes towards the costs of gathering and analysing the information land managers need to consider to ensure their proposals for productive multi-purpose woodland take account of any impacts on: biodiversity, landscape, water, the historic environment and local stakeholders.

Millward Charitable Trust makes grants to organisations involved with community buildings, facilities and open spaces, social welfare projects, for the performing arts, medical research and animal welfare.

The Chapman Charitable Trust (CCT) is a Grant-giving charity. It concentrates its support in two areas. These are Activity, health and well-being and Culture, the natural environment and heritage. The Trust also makes grants for care, the community and counselling. The Trust mainly support national charities but also support local charities if their beneficiaries or activities are located in North Wales, London or South East England (specifically, Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire).

National Aquarium Ltd is a charity which gives small grants to organisations or individuals that operate projects to further the goals of the National Marine Aquarium. The projects may be science based, research based, conservation focussed, educational or community events; but could equally be based around arts or drama as long as they make a contribution to raising awareness of the marine environment. All projects should fit with the stated aim of the charity, driving Marine Conservation through Engagement.  Grants awarded so far have been between £1,200 and £5,000 and future awards are likely to be of similar amounts.

The Medlock Charitable Trust makes grants to organisations is the areas of Education &Training ; Medical & Health/Sickness ; Disability & Special Needs ; Accommodation & Housing; Arts & culture; Sport & recreation; Environment, Conservation & Heritage; and Economic, Community Development &Employment. Both primary and secondary schools in the eligible areas are able to apply.

The Merger Fund supports organisations in the early phases of thinking about a merger.  Applicants to the fund need to be at, or close to, the preliminary stage of discussions with an identified potential merger partner (or partners ). The fund is not intended to meet any costs associated with a merger once a firm decision is made to proceed.  It is for organisations uncertain about what the decision might involve or those who need reassurance that a proposed merger makes sense.   Please note that the focus of the merging organisations must come under the Foundation’s areas of interest.

Naturesave Limited is an ethical insurance company providing funding to support environmental and conservationist projects. Financial assistance is available in the form of start up finance to new organisations which seeks to promote greater awareness of sustainable development or for existing companies and charities which are seeking funding for a specific project. The Trust has funded hundreds of projects since it's inception, ranging from installation of a wind turbines to the conservation of water voles in Dorset. The Trust prefers to provide start-up capital to small projects to get them going, rather than to contribute to the general administration costs of a larger charity or company.

Patagonia, the clothing and outdoor gear company is seeking applications for funding through its Environmental Grants Programme. The company are most interested in making grants of up to $15,000 to organisations that identify and work on the root causes of problems and that approach issues with a commitment to long-term change. The company are seeking to support small, grassroots activist organisations with provocative direct-action agendas, working on multi-pronged campaigns to preserve and protect the environment. Funding is limited to: United States, Canada, Japan, Chile, Argentina, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Norway, Luxembourg, Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Australia and the Czech Republic.

The Steel Charitable Trust is a grant-making trust supporting general charitable purposes. The trustees make grants where they believe that their contribution will make a real difference, grants are made to registered charities in the UK within the areas of; arts and culture; environment; health; education; disadvantaged. Grants are made at regular intervals during the year and the total level of grants is approximately £1,000,000, 30% of these grants will be made to organisations in the Luton and Bedfordshire area. Grants are generally made as single payments between £10,000 and £25,000.

The Mohammad Ibrahim Foundation is a private independent grant making foundation. It makes grants to organisations which aim to improve the quality of life for people and communities in the UK, both now and in the future. Grants are awarded twice a year for works that help transform the UK. The grants range from £500 - £10,000. Extraordinary projects may receive grants up to £50,000. The Foundation is particularly interested in: Community Building, Environment (Scotland only), Strengthening Nonprofits and Supporting Families. The Foundation likes to consider work which others may find hard to fund, perhaps because it breaks new ground, appears too risky, requires core funding, or needs a more unusual form of financial help such as a loan. Applications can be submitted at any time.

The Trust provides grants to registered charities working in the fields of social welfare, literature arts and heritage, environmental and animal welfare, and education and training. Grants range from £300 to £2,000. Eligible organisations must be UK-based registered charities experienced in their field of work in any of the above mentioned areas, charities which have been established for more than one financial year and who can provide a full set of their most recent reports and accounts, or the equivalent of, if their annual income is under £25,000. The nature of our funding is to support established charities and not to provide start-up costs. Applications are considered on the basis of the organisation's financial position, performance against charitable aims and objectives and the ration of voluntary income against fundraising expenses. Individuals and organisations such as schools, museums, libraries and community groups can apply to the British Ecological Society for grants of up to £2,000 to promote ecological science to a wide audience. The funding is available for projects that increase public understanding of, and engagement with, ecology; stimulate discussion about ecology and its implications for society; inspire and enthuse people of all ages about the science of ecology, especially those not previously interested; and develop skills in communicating the science of ecology. Applications from museums and schools are welcome but projects must involve significant outreach beyond schools. Projects aimed solely at delivering curriculum to school children will not be considered.

The Foundation is a UK based charity who's main remit is to offer Rufford Small Grants for nature conservation projects in the developing world. The Rufford Small Grants Foundation supports small scale or pilot projects with a nature/biodiversity conservation focus and has a broad scope of interest, as well as the conservation of particular threatened charismatic species, the protection of which is likely to benefit their natural habitat, it is also interested in those often neglected or less well known species. It is also keen to support projects which go beyond a species specific focus to provide habitat protection at a wider scale.

The John Ellerman Foundation's People and Planet funding scheme provides grants to charities that work to promote a healthier environment for both people and nature.  The scheme prioritises projects that enhance ocean health through stronger marine protected areas and on land and in freshwater through sustainable management, habitat restoration, and landscape-scale conservation.  The scheme also aims to address the impact of human activities like climate change and pollution on air, land, and water.
