The Asda Foundation aims to transform communities and improve lives by providing independent grants and support to locally relevant community projects throughout the UK. Through the Under 18 Better Starts Grant, the Foundation provides funding of between £400 and £1600 to improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. The funding is available to not-for-profit organisations for projects which give children the best start in life, encourage them to be active, and which tackle poverty, inclusion and wellbeing. Projects could include breakfast clubs, food and clothing banks, arts and crafts groups, brownies, scouts, training for counsellors, U18 sporting/physical activity-based groups, and Easter and Jubilee Celebrations for U18’s. Applications should be made through each local Asda store’s Community Champion. 

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Blackridge Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £5,000 to support charitable activities that: Enhance the quality of life for local residents; Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; Promote community spirit and encourage community activity. Grants may support a wide range of costs, such as equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities, and so on.

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Annandale and Nithsdale Community Benefit Company the foundation provides grants of up to £20,000 to support charitable activities that support the rural regeneration and sustainability of communities within the area of benefit. Applications that address any of the following issues are particularly welcomed: Community facilities, services, rural transport, affordable housing, community development; Community or local events; Environmental projects; Heritage; Skills, employment, tourism, reducing poverty and disadvantage, improving rural business opportunities, building the capacity of community and voluntary organisations, supporting innovation and social enterprise; Sport, recreation and improving the health of residents; Youth and education, tackling out-migration of young peop...

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities.  Through the An Suidhe Wind Farm Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £9,000 to groups and organisations working to benefit people in any of the four communities to support charitable activities that: Enhance the quality of life for local residents; Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful, and sustainable communities; Promote community spirit and encourage community activity.

The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation is a grant making foundation that give grants to small and medium sized local organisations in the UK with a demonstrable track record of success working to address local issues in communities of extreme urban deprivation and deprived rural districts. Through the small grants programme the foundation provides funding of between £2,000 and £10,000 to charitable organisations with an income of less than £250,000 for projects that focus on Community Support. Examples of the kind of projects that can be funded include: CommunityServices; CommunityCentres; Alternative Education; Training, mentoring, employment and volunteering opportunities; Youth; Counselling; Family Support Services; Substance Misuse.

The London based PF Charitable Trust has been using Foundation Scotland to distribute funds in Scotland since 1997, distributing over £800,000 in its name during this time.  The PF Charitable Trust's funding policy is to support work at community level and the Foundation provides a valuable service in targeting appropriate groups.

Cash for Kids is Bauer Radio’s network of local charities, which operate across 22 areas around the UK. Its mission is to respond to the needs of children in their communities.  CFM Radio in Cumbria and South West Scotland provides funding through the Cash for Kids grant scheme to charities, schools and individuals to support local children who suffer abuse or neglect, are disabled and have special needs or who simply need extra care or guidance.

The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for people and communities throughout the UK. The Foundation does this by funding the charitable work of organisations that are building an inclusive, creative and sustainable society.  Through the Children and Young people programme the Foundation will fund organisations that seek to challenge the inequalities faced by young people (age 0–25). The Foundation want to see the views of children and young people at the heart of organisations, and young people empowered to take action.

Firstport is Scotland’s development agency for start-up social entrepreneurs and social enterprise. The Pounds for Purpose programme offers awards of £500 to young people between 16 and 26 years old that want to stand up and make an impact and who have ideas that can make a difference to people or the environment. Firstport is particularly keen to support projects that have some way to generate income for themselves and can spend the £500 and report back within 6 months.

UK-German Connection's special flexible funding scheme aims to bring young people of the UK and Germany together to exchange ideas, promote joint learning and open discussions on special topics and current issues. Grants of £500 to £10,000 are available for projects that ensure that young people actively engage in an educational learning and thinking process, including discussion, debate and reflection. Activities funded must also show strong wider impact, and that the young people take an active role in this.

Through the Sustainable Future Programme, the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) aims to support work that develops and promotes sustainable, low-carbon alternatives to the current consumerist and growth-based paradigm. Funded projects will focus on: Better economics that reflect the true costs and risks of resource depletion, climate change and other environmental problems: Campaigns, initiatives and work that promote alternatives to consumerism: Campaigns and movements that give a voice to young activists and marginalised groups on issues of economic and environmental justice.

Foundation Scotland is one of 48 community foundations across the UK. The Foundation was established to help people and organisations give to good causes effectively and inexpensively, it is able to support registered and non-registered charities. Support generally falls under the broad heading of community benefit. Foundation Scotland is able to fund a wide range of project costs including revenue and capital cost for small projects, start-up, development and expansion grants for social enterprises and community organisations and mixed grant and loan packages to enable established organisations to play a more meaningful role in community regeneration. The Foundation also manages Community Benefit funds for a number of wind farms across Scotland.

The Gannochy Trust aims to work in partnership people and organisations that will help them to meet their aims of inspiring Young People (a Scotland wide fund)and improving the Quality of Life for People (Perth and Kinross only). The Trust makes grants to smaller, community-led groups supporting children, young people and people who are disadvantaged or vulnerable. Groups supported will be: Passionate and inspiring; making a difference to the lives of the people in our target groups; able to demonstrate a real understanding of the challenges facing the groups and communities they support; supportive to positive change in people's lives and communities; able to bring stability to difficult and challenging situations through creatively responsive interventions.

The Scotmid Co-operative is offering small grants to assist and support community projects and initiatives throughout Scotland. Funding is concentrated on the areas of Children/Youth; Health & Wellbeing; Fair Trade; Social Inclusion; Arts & Culture; Environment; 65+ Groups (age); Active Lifestyles; Community Group; Co-operative.To be eligible for funding, applicants must be a group or individual acting for the wider benefit of the local Community; and live within the geographic boundaries of one of Scotmid Regional Committees.

The Holywood Trust is a charitable organisation which aims to help young people in Dumfries and Galloway. It gives grants to individuals and organisations, creating opportunities for young people in the region. The Trust is particularly interested in providing opportunities for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable young people in our region; encouraging talented young people in Dumfries and Galloway; and helping improve sports and cultural opportunities across the region. The Trust focuses primarily on young people aged 15 - 25 years.

The Mark Scott Leadership for Life Award brings together young people, in their 6th year at school, from different social, religious and cultural backgrounds. It trains and supports them as they plan and deliver a project that will benefit their local community.

The BBC Children in Need Main Grants programme distributes grants of over £10,000 to not for profit organisations such as Registered charities; Voluntary organisations; Schools ; Churches; and Community groups, etc  that work with disadvantaged children below the age of 18 living in the UK. In particular, grants are available for projects that help children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing illness, distress, abuse or neglect; any kind of disability; behavioural or psychological difficulties; and / or living in poverty or situations of deprivation. Applications should demonstrate how your project will change the lives of children for the better.

The Tree Council is the UK's lead charity for trees, promoting their importance in a changing environment. The trees for schools grant is open to all schools within the United Kingdom with pupils aged 16 or under. The Tree Council will fund up to 4 fruit trees (but no more than that) on semi-vigorous, vigorous and very vigorous rootstocks. If you wish to plant more than 4 fruit trees, please apply to our Orchard Windfalls Fund. Projects must fall between £100 and £700 and children under the age of sixteen must be actively involved in the planting process.

The Roman Society is the leading organisation in the United Kingdom for those interested in the study of Rome and the Roman Empire. The Society's Schools Committee makes grants to schools to help promote the teaching of Latin and Roman studies. Most of the grants are awarded for the purchase of textbooks and other books on Roman topics, but the Committee also makes awards to groups and schools organising lectures or study days on Roman themes, and has recently made money available for archaeology fieldwork bursaries. Applications from schools planning to start courses in Latin are particularly welcome.  Grants usually range from £50 to £600.

Schools, charities and community organisations can apply for grants for projects that improve the quality and prospect of life for children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially including those Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The grants available include capital projects such as medical treatment and recovery centres, sports and activity areas, sensory rooms and gardens, playgrounds and hydrotherapy pools as well as revenue grants to support outreach programmes for children in their communities.

The Voluntary Action Fund (VAF) is a long-established independent grant-making body which invests in voluntary organisations and community groups across Scotland. The Volunteering Support Programme supports third sector organisations to create new volunteering projects to; increase the diversity of their volunteers (especially those experiencing disadvantage); and improve opportunities, skills and personal development through volunteering. The Fund also helps organisations enhance their services and improve their capacity to deploy, support and train volunteers. Grants are available to organisations with an income of less than £250,000.

Foundation Scotland (formerly Scottish Community Foundation) is one of the largest funders of the voluntary sector in Scotland and last year was responsible for distributing over £9million on behalf of their donors. The foundation runs a diverse range of funding programmes for organisations across Scotland who work to benefit a range of interests, causes and communities, and they are particularly interested in supporting organisations where a grant will have a significant impact and enable them to achieve their objectives.
