Foundation Scotland - EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Wind Farm Community Fund (Contin)

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the EDF Renewables Corriemoillie Wind Farm Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £3,000 to community organisations providing activities that: Enhance quality of life for local residents; Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; Promote community spirit and encourage community activity. Applicants should consider the community priorities that were first identified at an open day consultation in Contin in May 2015 and are reviewed annually. Current priorities are: access; history and heritage and improving outdoor spaces (woods and play park). However, the Fund will also support projects outside these priorities.

Through the Denny and District Community Fund the foundation provides grants of between £500 and £10,000 to support charitable activities that: Enhance quality of life for local residents; Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; Promote community spirit and encourage community activity.
Grants may support a wide range of costs, for example the costs of equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities, and so on.

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Clyde (Dumfries and Galloway) Community Fund the foundation provides standard grants of between £500 and £12,000 and Large grants over £12,000. The Fund will provide grants to support charitable activities that: Enhance quality of life and promote people's well-being;  Promote community spirit and bring people together; Foster vibrant, sustainable communities. Grant requests to support a wide range of costs and activities will be considered, such as equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, and maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities.

Through the Carcant Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £1,500 to support charitable activities that: Enhance quality of life for local residents.
Contribute to vibrant, healthy, successful and sustainable communities; Promote community spirit and encourage community activity.
Grants may support a wide range of costs, for example the costs of equipment, staff or sessional workers, consultations, running costs for local groups, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities, and so on.

Foundation Scotland - Blackford Community Fund (Perth and Kinross)

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Blackford Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £1,500 to support community groups and charities working in the Blackford Community Council area.  By providing grants to such groups, it aims to: Promote community spirit and bring people together; Enhance quality of life and promote people’s well-being; Foster a vibrant, sustainable community. 

Foundation Scotland - Barr Community Fund (South Ayrshire)

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Barr Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £25,000 to projects located within or directly benefiting Barr, South Ayrshire. Applications must benefit the community, which is geographically defined by the community council boundaries. Awards can support a wide range of costs and activities including equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities etc.

Foundation Scotland - Ballantrae Community Fund (South Ayrshire)

Foundation Scotland exists to benefit disadvantaged communities by making grants to support relevant charitable or voluntary organisations, which make a difference to their local communities. Through the Ballantrae Community Fund the foundation provides grants of up to £25,000 to support projects located within or directly benefiting Ballantrae, South Ayrshire. Applications must benefit the community, which is geographically defined by the community council boundaries. Awards can support a wide range of costs and activities including equipment costs, running costs for local groups, staff or sessional worker costs, consultations, maintenance or refurbishment of community facilities etc.

Trusthouse Charitable Foundation - Small Grant (UK)

The Trusthouse Charitable Foundation is a grant making foundation that give grants to small and medium sized local organisations in the UK with a demonstrable track record of success working to address local issues in communities of extreme urban deprivation and deprived rural districts. Through the small grants programme the foundation provides funding of between £2,000 and £10,000 to charitable organisations with an income of less than £250,000 for projects that focus on Community Support. Examples of the kind of projects that can be funded include: CommunityServices; CommunityCentres; Alternative Education; Training, mentoring, employment and volunteering opportunities; Youth; Counselling; Family Support Services; Substance Misuse.

Food for Life - Get Together Fund (UK)

Food for Life Get Togethers are part of a bigger movement, led by the Soil Association, to make good food the easy choice for everyone. The  Food for Life Get Together initiative aims to get more people eating healthily, strengthen communities and reduce experience of loneliness and social isolation. Grants of up to £150 are available for ideas that use good food to connect and bring together people of all ages and from different backgrounds.

Robertson Trust - Large Grants (Scotland)

The Robertson Trust is an independent Scottish grant-making Trust which exists to improve the lives of people and communities experiencing poverty and trauma. The Trust provide funding for organisations and initiatives that address: Financial wellbeing - tackling the financial and material effects of poverty on people and communities; Emotional wellbeing and relationships - ensuring people have emotional wellbeing, and confidence and strength in their relationships with others; Educational and work pathways - equipping people for the future by supporting learning and skills. Through the Large Grants programme the trust provides funding of between £15,000 and £50,000 per year, for up to five years.

Robertson Trust - Small Grants (Scotland)

The Trust provide funding for organisations and initiatives that address: Financial wellbeing - tackling the financial and material effects of poverty on people and communities; Emotional wellbeing and relationships - ensuring people have emotional wellbeing, and confidence and strength in their relationships with others; Educational and work pathways - equipping people for the future by supporting learning and skills.  Through the Small grants programme the trust provides funding for registered charities with an annual income of between £25,000 and £100,000.

Robertson Trust - Wee Grants (Scotland)

The Robertson Trust is an independent Scottish grant-making Trust which exists to improve the lives of people and communities experiencing poverty and trauma. The Trust provide funding for organisations and initiatives that address: Financial wellbeing - tackling the financial and material effects of poverty on people and communities; Emotional wellbeing and relationships - ensuring people have emotional wellbeing, and confidence and strength in their relationships with others; Educational and work pathways - equipping people for the future by supporting learning and skills. Through the Wee Grants programme the trust provides grants of up to £2,000 to constituted community groups and small charities with an annual income of under £25,000.

Alcohol Change UK - New Horizons Grant Programme (UK)

Alcohol Change UK is a charity that is dedicated to funding work that improves understanding of what causes excessive drinking, how it can be prevented and the best ways of tackling the problems it causes. Through the New Horizons programme the charity aims to explore how people’s experience of alcohol harm is affected by their membership of, identification with, or exclusion from groups and communities, and how constructions of meaning within a community may promote or prevent alcohol harm amongst its members. The charity welcome proposals that address any aspects of alcohol use, harm and treatment services, and how these relate to groups, communities and meaning.

The Newby Trust - Social Welfare (UK)

The Newby Trust funds local, regional or national charities registered and operating in the UK within the broad categories of education, health and social welfare.  Through the Social Welfare programme the Trust provides grants of up to £10,000 to improve people’s quality of life in disadvantaged communities. 

Corra Foundation - Challenge Fund (Scotland)

The aim of the Corra Foundation is to help improve the lives of individuals and communities experiencing disadvantage all across Scotland and in developing countries.  Through the Challenge Fund the Foundation provides an opportunity for Integrated Authorities (IAs) and/or Alcohol and Drug Partnerships (ADPs) and their partners to bid for money to test or implement change.  Applications from consortia are welcome. The fund is designed to support activities and approaches that contribute to making systemic changes to support people who use alcohol and drugs.

Corra Foundation - Family Recovery Initiative Fund (Scotland)

The aim of the Corra Foundation is to help improve the lives of individuals and communities experiencing disadvantage all across Scotland and in developing countries.  Through the Family Recovery Initiative Fund the Foundation provides one-off grants of up to £1,500 for community groups in Scotland providing practical support for families affected by alcohol and drugs.

The Allen Lane Foundation - People with Mental Health Problems (UK)

The Allen Lane Foundation is a grant-making trust with a focus is on funding unpopular causes. The overall aims of the Foundation are to make a lasting difference to people’s lives; reduce isolation, stigma and discrimination; and to encourage or enable unpopular groups to share in the life of the whole community. The Foundation aims to fund work benefitting people affected by mental health problems – lessening their isolation and feelings of stigma, improving wellbeing and promoting recovery, and enabling people to feel included in their local communities. The Foundation funds organisations that provide general services and activities to people with mental health conditions; as well as groups working with people affected by specific or particular issues – such as bipolar disorder, or depression, or self-harm, or eating disorders for example.

Inman Charity (UK)

Grants totalling £250,000 per year are available to registered charities in the UK for projects with a social welfare focus and those working with disadvantaged people. The Directors are particularly interested in supporting the following areas of charitable work: Medical research; care of the elderly; general welfare; hospices; the deaf and blind; care of the physically & mentally disabled; and the Armed Forces.

The Hodge Foundation (UK)

The Hodge Foundation provides grants of up to £100,000 to UK registered or exempt charities such as special needs schools and universities for projects that address the objectives of the Foundation.  This includes supporting charities working with people who may be vulnerable or disadvantaged and who need assistance to improve their lives;  education and learning, both within formal school settings and practical approaches to learning which support young people to fulfill their potential and thrive including those with special needs; medical related charities specialising in the treatment and support for specific illnesses and research; and providing funds towards projects such as facilities in church buildings and inclusive activities for the wider community.

 

 

The National Lottery Community Fund – Grants for Community-Led Activity (Scotland)

The National Lottery Community Fund distributes money raised by the National Lottery to support local communities. The Grants for Community-Led Activity programme provides funding of between £20,001 and £150,000 to support voluntary and community organisation to improve the places in which they live and the wellbeing of those most in need. Projects should have the following outcomes: Everyone in the community has the opportunity to influence and get involved in community-led activity; People in the community are better connected and work together to improve their well-being.

The Princes’s Countryside Fund – Rural Four Fund (UK)

The Prince's Countryside Fund gives grants to projects that have a positive impact upon rural areas. The Rural Four – Catalyst, collaborate, create and champion grant programme aims to: Reinvigorate community networks by assisting with rebuilding community assets; Improve the health and well-being of 200 socially isolated people through providing access to improved community assets and a network of support; Create a lasting legacy of support and community spirit in the areas where support is provided. The programme will support up to 10 rural communities a year with funding of up to £25,000

The SSE Clyde Community Fund (Dumfries And Galloway)

The SSE Clyde (Dumfries And Galloway) Community Fund aims to support activities that will enhance quality of life and promote people's well being, promote community spirit and bring people together or foster vibrant, sustainable communities. The Fund will benefit the 12 Community Council areas of Carronbridge, Durisdeer Johnstone, Kirkonnel and Kelloholm, Kirkmichael, Kirkpatrick Juxta, Moffat and District, Closeburn, Royal Burgh of Sanquhar & District, Thornhill, Wamphray and Wanlockhead.

Community Food and Health Scotland (Scotland)

The Community Food and Health Scotland (CFHS) aims to ensure that everyone in Scotland has the opportunity, ability and confidence to access a healthy and acceptable diet for themselves, their families and their communities. The CFHS has grants from £500 to £3,000 available to groups and agencies who would like to tackle one or more of the barriers to healthy eating, such as affordability or availability, and the negative impact of culture and lack of food skills. CFHS welcome applications from groups or agencies working with and within low-income communities throughout Scotland.

Edgar E Lawley Foundation Grant (UK)

The objectives of The Edgar E Lawley Foundation are for general charitable purposes with particular reference to medicine, the needs of elderly persons, and to educational purposes with reference to the arts, commerce and industry. Traditionally the Foundation has given particular assistance to charities in the West Midlands area. The current annual grants programme amounts to approximately £200,000 per annum with a typical grant being in the region of £2,000 per successful applicant. 

Alan Babette Sainsbury Charitable Fund Grant (UK)

The Alan Babette Sainsbury Charitable Fund Grant provides grants to registered charities that focus on: arts and education projects which help young people to achieve their potential, particularly within Southwark, from where proposals are particularly encouraged; support for UK charities which defend civil liberties and human rights; projects in the developing world, especially Africa, which maximise educational and employment opportunities for young people; areas of scientific and medical research on Type 1 diabetes. The funding amount is discretionary and applications can be submitted at any time.

Community Foundations (UK)

Community Foundations support community and voluntary sector activity through grants to local groups and organisations. There are 48 Community Foundations of different sizes within the UK. Although all Community Foundations operate according to common criteria, they vary in terms of size and nature of grants available. Some Community Foundations will fund both organisations and individuals whilst other foundations will only fund organisations. Each community foundation covers a specific geographic area and will not normally be able to support work outside its area.

Healthy Hearts Grant (UK)

Heart Research UK (HRUK) provide grants of up to either £5,000 or £10,000 to new, original and innovative projects that actively promote Heart Health and help to prevent, or reduce, the risk of heart disease in specific groups or communities. Funding is only available for non- profit making organisations and can pay for equipment, travel costs, contributions to staff salaries or consultant fees. In the past grants have been awarded to fund cooking sessions, theatre workshops, multi-sport activities, classroom based learning, circus skills, and tandem biking, etc.

The National Lottery Community Fund - Awards for All (Scotland)

Voluntary and community groups, schools, community and town councils and health bodies can apply for grants of between £300 and £20,000 for projects which help improve local communities and the lives of people most in need. Projects must meet at least one of their three aims: bring people together and build strong relationships in and across communities; improve the places and spaces that matter to communities; help more people to reach their potential, by supporting them at the earliest possible stage. Foundation Scotland (formerly Scottish Community Foundation) is one of the largest funders of the voluntary sector in Scotland and last year was responsible for distributing over £9million on behalf of their donors. The foundation runs a diverse range of funding programmes for organisations across Scotland who work to benefit a range of interests, causes and communities, and they are particularly interested in supporting organisations where a grant will have a significant impact and enable them to achieve their objectives.
