Linnean Society of London - Percy Sladen Memorial Fund Grants (UK)

The Linnean Society of London is the world’s oldest active society devoted to natural history. Through the Percy Sladen Memorial Fund Grants programme the society provides grants up to £2,000 supporting field work abroad in the earth and life sciences. Funds are not available for further education of any kind, for visits to conferences, for work in institutions or for field work undertaken as part of a dissertation of higher degree. Undergraduate expeditions are also not supported.

WRAP – UK Circular Plastics Flagship Projects (UK)

WRAP are world leaders in helping organisations achieve greater resource efficiency. The UK Circular Plastics Flagship Project Competition aims to support the delivery of the Government’s target of achieving zero avoidable plastic waste by the end of 2042, and the objectives of the UK Plastics Pact by 2025. These objectives are: 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable or compostable; 70% of plastic packaging effectively recycled or composted; eliminate problematic or unnecessary single use packaging; a minimum of 30% average recycled content across all plastic packaging. The grant funds will support new pioneering industry led collaborative projects, focussed on unlocking the most critical, short-term barriers to improving plastics circularity, finding new innovative solutions and interventions that will remove or overcome these barriers.

The Pebble Trust Grant (Scotland)

The Pebble Trust is a Scottish charity established in 2014 with a vision to create a more sustainable, equal and low-carbon society. Grants of up to £10,000 are available to charities, community groups, businesses and individuals with projects that promote more sustainable lifestyles; in particular through environmental protection or improvement; community developmenand self-reliance; and through the advancement of education and science, in particular carrying out research and education relating to the technical and social aspects of sustainable lifestyles.

National Marine Aquarium (UK)

National Aquarium Ltd is a charity which gives small grants to organisations or individuals that operate projects to further the goals of the National Marine Aquarium. The projects may be science based, research based, conservation focussed, educational or community events; but could equally be based around arts or drama as long as they make a contribution to raising awareness of the marine environment. All projects should fit with the stated aim of the charity, driving Marine Conservation through Engagement.  Grants awarded so far have been between £1,200 and £5,000 and future awards are likely to be of similar amounts.

People's Trust for Endangered Species - Worldwide Grant (UK)

The PTES worldwide grants programme offers conservation insight grants of £3,000 to £10,000 per year for up to two years to projects focussing on endangered species. Grants will be awarded to projects that seek to either: Find critical scientific evidence that will faciltiate the conservation of a species; provide the answer to a key conservation question; or undertake the implementation of a key local action resulting in significant, positive impact for an endangered species. Applicants must already be working and established in the UK, overseas UK territory or any country classified by the World Bank as not high income.  Applications for work with bird species are not accepted.

Frederick Soddy Trust - Schools Award Scheme (UK)

The Frederick Soddy Trust offers support for study which includes human geography: the social, economic and cultural life of specific regions within the United Kingdom, Ireland or elsewhere in the world. Schools wishing to undertake expeditions including human as well as physical geography may apply for this Award Scheme. Priority will be given to those schools that have not received a grant in recent years, and also to those that have at least a strong element of human geography. Preference will be given to those schools applying for funds for expeditions or field study in the United Kingdom and Ireland as opposed to countries elsewhere in the world.
