Merthyr Tydfil Development Fund
Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council

All projects submitted to the Merthyr Tydfil Development Fund must be new and innovative, will not fund the continuation of existing projects.

 

The project must be based in and benefit the residents of the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and meet one or more of the following themes of the Merthyr tydfil Single Integration Plan:

 

  • People in Merthyr Tydfil have the opportunity and aspiration to learn and develop their skills to maximise their potential 
  • People in Merthyr Tydfil benefit from a strong, sustainable and diverse economy
  • People, who live and work in Merthyr Tydfil are supported to enjoy a healthier and better quality of life
  • People enjoy a vibrant, attractive, safe and sustainable place in which to live, work, play and visit.

 

Projects must be seeking REVENUE only. Examples of revenue can include:

 

  • Running costs.
  • Training
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Marketing

 

If your project requires other funding to be implemented this funding must be in place before you apply to the MT Development Fund.

Voluntary and community organisations which are able to demonstrate that their goals will benefit communities in Merthyr Tydfil, can apply for a grant providing they:

 

  • Are a not for profit group.
  • Have a constitution or set of rules that have been signed or “adopted”.
  • Have a Bank or Building Society account with at least two joint signatories.
  • Have recent Annual Accounts or Statement of Income and Expenditure (audited or signed as approved by a senior person from the group).
 

Applications from new groups are welcome. New groups will need a constitution or set of rules before applying. If new groups cannot provide a set of accounts for the last year, we need instead, an estimate of income and expenditure for your first year. If your group doesn’t have a constitution, you can contact Voluntary Action Merthyr Tydfil for help on 01685 353900.

  • Grants are for Revenue costs only. The minimum grant is £2,500 and the maximum grant is £10,000.

 

  • Your project can not start until 1st April 2014 and you must be able to spend the grant before the end of March 2015.

 

  • You should be able to start spending your grant within six months of receiving it.
