Grants of £300 to £20,000 are available through The National Lottery Community Fund’s Small Eco Awards programme for projects with environmental sustainability as their main aim.
The National Lottery Community Fund supports community-led projects across the UK, with a focus on resilient, inclusive and environmentally sustainable communities.
Through the Small Eco Awards programme, funding is available for projects based in Northern Ireland, Scotland or Wales.
Projects must help people connect with and care for nature locally, make a positive difference to the environment, or help communities tackle pollution.
The funding can be used to start a new activity, continue an existing one, help an organisation or community adapt to new challenges, or run one-off events with a clear environmental benefit.
Eligible projects could include:
- creating or improving community gardens, orchards, allotments or wildlife areas;
- running nature walks, outdoor learning sessions or citizen science activities;
- organising litter-picks, beach cleans, river clean-ups or anti-pollution campaigns;
- setting up community composting, reuse, repair or recycling initiatives;
- planting trees, hedgerows or wildflowers to improve biodiversity.
Applications can be submitted at any time, with decisions expected within 12 weeks.
