Grants to Support Projects in Horticulture, Plant Sciences, Fine Art & Art History (UK)

Grants of up to £10,000 are available to UK-registered charities for projects involving horticulture, plant sciences, fine art and art history through the Finnis Scott Foundation. Most awards are currently £5,000 or less.

The Foundation, established in 2006, supports charitable activities reflecting its founders’ interests in gardening and art. Funding is available for capital and revenue projects, with preference given to smaller charities.

Eligible activities include horticultural training, apprenticeships, bursaries and the exhibition, conservation and study of historical art. Applications for bursaries and apprenticeships must be submitted through a sponsoring institution.

Community interest companies and mainstream schools are excluded, although applications from special schools through registered charities may be considered. Funding is not available for existing salary commitments, except horticultural traineeships and apprenticeships, or expenditure already incurred.

Key points

  • Applicants must be UK-registered charities.

  • Both capital and revenue projects are eligible.

  • Smaller, established charities are preferred.

  • Individual applications are not accepted directly.

The next closing date for applications is 4pm on 9 December 2026.
