Grant News
The Ofgem Energy Industry Voluntary Redress Scheme has launched its eleventh funding round, offering £40 million in grants to support charities and community energy groups across England, Scotland, and Wales. This initiative aims to assist households vulnerable to cold homes and high energy bills, as well as projects facilitating a just transition to net zero and addressing the climate change impacts of energy consumption.
The funds are sourced from voluntary payments by companies that may have breached Ofgem's regulations.
Eligible organisations can apply through five distinct funding streams, including the Main Fund and Small Fund for charities, and the Carbon Emissions Reduction Fund, Innovation Fund, or Just Transition Fund for community energy groups. Since its inception in 2018, the scheme has financed over 647 projects. These have included:
- Impartial energy advice services supporting vulnerable people.
- Digital media campaigns engaging consumers with energy issues and available support.
- Research projects ensuring new energy technologies meet the needs of elderly and disabled people.
- Initiatives boosting the uptake of whole-house retrofits.
- Trials of new business models and interventions enabling households to utilise more locally generated energy.
Applications are open until 5 pm on the 20th March 2025, via the Energy Saving Trust website. Organisations not yet registered must do so at least 10 working days before the deadline to allow for eligibility checks.
