The National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) has announced a new funding opportunity to strengthen community leadership across England.
The Change Makers programme forms part of a wider £50 million investment in community leadership over the next five years.
It will fund organisations that can develop the systems and networks, and support community leaders need to effect change in and for their communities, particularly in areas facing poverty, disadvantage or discrimination.
Up to twelve projects are expected to be supported. Organisations can apply for grants of between £1 million and £5 million for projects lasting five years. In exceptional cases, projects running for 3 or 4 years may be supported.
Applications can be made by a single organisation or by a partnership. To be eligible, applicants must have a combined gross annual income exceeding £1 million.
Eligible organisations include voluntary and community organisations, registered charities, CIOs, CICs, not-for-profit companies, statutory bodies, community benefit societies, co-operatives, colleges and universities.
Funding can cover a wide range of costs, including staffing, training, events and technology.
The application process has two stages and is expected to take around 10 months. Applications open on 8 July 2026.
Webinars will be held on 18 June and 30 June 2026. Registration is required through the National Lottery Community Fund website.
