Funding to Support International Youth Projects (UK)

Organisations working with young people will, from November 2026, be able to access funding for youth projects through the UK Government’s Erasmus+ programme.

The programme offers specific funding opportunities for youth-focused activity in EU and associated non-EU countries, including projects linked to non-formal education, youth work and youth social action. Funding can support youth exchanges, youth worker mobility, partnerships and wider international opportunities for organisations working with young people.

Organisations eligible to apply include schools, colleges, further education and vocational education and training providers, youth organisations, and adult education providers. These organisations will be able to bid for funding to support international learning, collaboration and partnership activity.

This could include:

  • School pupils spending time studying abroad, either individually or as part of a class or group
  • Students and apprentices in higher education, further education and vocational education and training can study, train, volunteer or undertake a work placement abroad.
  • Adult learners can spend time at an adult learning organisation abroad or study abroad as part of a group.
  • Young people who work or volunteer for youth organisations can travel for training or a youth exchange and take part in workshops, debates and outdoor activities.
  • Youth workers and staff working in schools, FE, HE or adult education can train or teach abroad and take part in professional development activities.
  • Grassroots sports staff can spend time abroad job-shadowing or on a coaching assignment.

Organisations can also take part in Erasmus+ by forming collaborative projects with partners abroad. These projects aim to develop and share innovative practices and improve the education, training, youth and sport activities organisations offer.
