Grant News
The Alice McCosh Trust is accepting applications for grants of around £600 to £1,000 to support educational projects involving natural history and the environment. The Scottish charitable trust aims to advance education by helping individuals undertake research, study and activities that improve understanding of the natural world.
Funding can support school field trips, environmental research, fieldwork, educational expeditions and the development of teaching materials for schools and higher education institutions.
Key points include:
- Applications are open to individuals of any age, including independent researchers and students.
- Preference is given to applicants from, or projects relating to, Scotland, England, Turkey and Uganda.
- Projects must relate to natural history or the environment.
- Funded work must begin within 12 months of receiving an award.
- Taught degrees, including master's degrees, and participation in pre-paid organised tours or expeditions are excluded.
Applications are invited from individuals, including those attached to educational institutions, rather than explicitly from schools or organisations. For example, a teacher or other individual associated with a school may therefore be eligible to apply.
Applications must be submitted using the Trust's application form and emailed to the Trust Secretary. The current application window runs from 1 October to 30 November 2026.
