Grant News
Charities and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for grants of up to £300 to host conversations around democracy.
The funding is made available through phase two of the Democracy Matters Community Engagement Fund, which aims to gather the views of people across Scotland on how local democracy can be made more inclusive, particularly for marginalised communities.
Conversations around democracy will focus on 16 key questions covering 6 different themes.
Grants can be used to cover the costs of holding these conversations which can be in the form of community events, meetings or gatherings held in person or online.
Costs should relate to holding a conversation for five or more people. These might include:
- venue hire/overhead contributions
- catering
- childcare
- travel
- resources and materials;
- inclusive communications (including interpreters)
An organisation can apply for a maximum of two grants if the conversations that take place involve different people or are in a different community. Organisations wishing to host two conversations should submit an application form for each one.
In order to make the fund accessible, additional funding may be available should the cost be greater than £300. This may include costs to cover inclusive communication, accessible transport etc.
The Fund is managed by Impact Funding Partners on behalf of the Scottish Government and COSLA.
The closing date for applications is the 26th January 2024.
