The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) has announced its Early Years Funding Round for Spring 2025, inviting applications from organisations aiming to enhance early childhood education.
This initiative seeks to support and evaluate existing programmes that focus on improving self-regulation or executive function in children, or that incorporate these elements as part of broader developmental goals. Improving these critical developmental skills, which are foundational for future learning and academic success
The EEF is particularly interested in programmes that might benefit children from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The primary focus of this funding round is self-regulation and executive function. However, applications for programmes that do not directly focus on the priority areas are still encouraged if they contain components of the priority areas. This may include programmes that primarily focus on Personal, Social and Emotional Development, physical development, early language, early maths, and mental health and wellbeing.
During this funding round, the Foundation seeks programmes that are developed and ready to be evaluated. Independent evaluators from our panel will be appointed for every project funded.
Please note that this round has two separate application forms depending on the funding stream best suited for the programme –one for pilot projects, and one for efficacy and effectiveness trials.
Eligible applicants include any organisation working with children and young people between the ages of 2–5 years old. The EEF funds projects taking place in schools, colleges, and early years settings in England.
The closing date for applications is 11am on the 14th March 2025.
Interested parties can apply by completing the appropriate application form available on the EEF's website. For further information or clarification, applicants are encouraged to contact the EEF at applications@eefoundation.org.uk .
EEF will host a webinar at 3pm on Tuesday 4th February, to support prospective teams in applying for this themed funding. To register please click here.
