Grant News
The Woodroffe Benton Foundation has announced the opening of its latest Small Grants Programme, offering one-off grants between £500 and £2,500 to UK charitable organisations and educational institutions
The Foundation usually makes grants in the following areas:
- Relief of hardship due to economic or social circumstances
- Care and accommodation for elderly or sick individuals
- Education, particularly promoting institutions in the Derbyshire region
- Environmental conservation or public access improvements
- Human physical well-being, though this category is funded proactively rather than via open applications
This round prioritises projects that enhance the quality of life and social engagement for individuals with severe physical and/or learning disabilities across the UK. Grants are available to UK-registered charities and schools or universities with at least two years of operational history and an annual income below approximately £750,000. Applicants must have a full set of accounts and demonstrate clear charitable objectives.
The Foundation does not typically fund heritage projects, animal welfare (except UK wildlife), or organisations without independent charitable status. Multi-year or discretionary funding is issued solely at the trustees’ discretion and is not available through the open application process.
Applications will be reviewed by trustees at their 15 October 2025 meeting. Successful applicants can expect a decision within two weeks of that date. Unsuccessful applicants are not routinely contacted unless requested.
The closing date for applications is 31 August 2025, or until 150 applications are received—whichever comes first.
