Grants for Community and Environmental Projects (England)

The Veolia Environmental Trust has announced the opening of its next funding round to support community and environmental projects across England. Grants are available to enhance community facilities and natural habitats, with funding offered through two primary schemes:

  • Community Grants Scheme – between £10,000 and £75,000 is available for projects that develop or improve publicly accessible spaces. Eligible initiatives should promote community action, inclusivity, and environmental sustainability.

  • Habitat & Biodiversity Grants Scheme – between £10,000 and £75,000 is available for projects that create or enhance natural habitats to support native species and biodiversity.

Constituted not-for-profit organisations, local authorities, and Environmental Bodies (EBs) are eligible to apply.

The Veolia Environmental Trust requires that any project location be situated within five miles of a qualifying Veolia facility—such as a landfill, Energy Recovery Facility, or Materials Recycling Facility—in order to be eligible for grant funding in England.  Please use the postcode checker below.

The current application round closes at 12:00 midday on 2 October 2025. Full eligibility criteria and guidance documents are available on the Trust’s official website, where applications can also be submitted through the online portal.
