Grant News
The Worshipful Company of Weavers has launched a new funding round through its charitable grants programme.
The fund’s primary focus is on helping young offenders and ex-offenders, and other disadvantaged young people find pathways to meaningful employment and community participation. It also offers backing to smaller charities that work with under-funded groups within the criminal justice system.
Organisations eligible to apply include registered UK charities and charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs). In certain circumstances, community interest companies (CICs) may be considered.
There are two levels of funding:
- Small grants of up to £5,000
- Main grants with no formal cap, though many typical awards fall in the £10,000–£15,000 range.
The Charitable Grants Committee meets in February, June and October of each year and the next application closing date is 12 March 2026.
Previously funded projects have included:
- Supporting disadvantaged young people (aged up to c. 30) to develop life-skills and access education, training or employment.
- Helping young offenders, ex-offenders and their families to reintegrate, overcome social and economic barriers, and make a positive contribution to society.
- Funding direct intervention work with women involved in or at risk of entering the criminal justice system – for example, mentoring, training or outreach for women facing abuse, exploitation or other vulnerabilities.
- Backing smaller, specialist organisations delivering bespoke services (rather than large generic programmes) – especially local charities operating at community level.
- Supporting initiatives aimed at preventing young people “at risk” of offending from entering the criminal justice system through early-intervention, mentoring or training programmes.
