Not for profit organisations, informal groups and individuals can apply for grants of between £2,000 and £5,000 through the Stronger Communities Fund for activities that use sport and physical activity to bring Londoners from different backgrounds together and help isolated Londoners feel better connected in their communities.
The funding will support recognised sporting activities as well as more informal exercise-based activity such as scoot events, walks, games such as Frisbee, tug of war etc.
The aim is to invest in projects which help to improve social integration across London by supporting projects which use sport and physical activity to work towards at least one of the following outcomes:
- Build relationships between Londoners from different backgrounds i.e. projects which regularly bring different groups of people in the community together to help build relationships, reduce any negative stereotyping between these groups, and increase trust in communities.
- Reduce isolation and loneliness i.e. utilise sport and physical activity as a tool to engage socially isolated groups. Of particular intertest are projects which build people's confidence and help them feel better supported in the community.
Applications can be submitted at any time until the 15th May 2020.
