£100,000 Grant for River Restoration (London)

Environmental charity Thames21 is inviting applications for its EMPOWER Rivers Large Grant Scheme. 

With funding from the Lund Trust, the scheme will award one grant of £100,000 to support a large-scale river restoration or wetland creation project that benefits London’s river ecosystems and surrounding communities.

Eligible activities include constructing wetlands, reconnecting floodplains, channel realignment, removing concrete and stone channel reinforcements, berm creation, and adding wood deflectors.

Applications are accepted from:

  • local authorities
  • landowners
  • farmers
  • charities and other not-for-profit organisations

Applications from formally constituted community groups will be considered if applying in partnership with any of the organisations or entities listed above.

The project must be situated within the boundary of one of the 32 London boroughs.

Match funding is required.

The closing date for applications is the 28th February 2025.
