Grant News
To tackle London's housing crisis, the Mayor of London has secured an additional £2 billion in Bridge Funding through the Affordable Homes Programme 2021–2026.
This initiative, delivered by the Greater London Authority, strengthens the Mayor’s commitment by funding developers, councils, and housing associations to build homes for social rent, London Living Rent, and shared ownership.
This additional funding will support projects that can start on site by March 2027 and complete by June 2029. The level of grant per home varies depending on the tenure type and location.
The priorities for the remaining programme are:
- Estate Regeneration projects, particularly those offering high levels of additionality (new homes over and above those being replaced)
- Increasing the proportion of social rented homes in the programme to meet London’s most acute need
- Homes that can start on site by 2027 and completed by June 2029
- Supported and specialist provision for vulnerable Londoners
To date, the programme has allocated £3.4 billion to enable the construction of over 29,000 affordable homes across the capital, and new bids will continue to be assessed until the remaining funds are fully allocated.
