Access to Justice Foundation Announces Legal Support Grant 2026 (England & Wales)

Charities that provide free legal support in England and Wales can apply for funding through the Access to Justice Foundation’s Legal Support Grant 2026–2029.

The £15 million programme is funded by the Ministry of Justice and delivered by the Access to Justice Foundation. It aims to improve access to justice, make the legal support system more sustainable, and build evidence about which types of legal support work best, who they help, and which areas of law they cover.

Applications are open to charities registered with the Charity Commission that have experience of providing legal advice or support in social welfare or family law. Universities, private law firms, individuals, partnerships and consortiums cannot apply.

The programme will fund charities that provide free legal support that people can access at the right time and in the right way. This may include one-to-one legal advice, online information, assisted self-help, outreach work, court-based support, partnerships with other organisations, and local networks where specialist services support wider advice providers.

Grants range from up to £100,000 or £150,000 per year for organisational infrastructure, to £200,000–£350,000 per year for national online support services.

Applications close at 12pm on 25 June 2026.
