Large R&D Partnerships Competition for On-Farm Innovations (England)

The Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, in partnership with UK Research & Innovation, is launching round two of the Farming Innovation Programme - Large R&D Partnerships Fund.

The programme supports collaborative research and development projects that enable England’s agricultural and horticultural sectors to be more environmentally sustainable and resilient, whilst moving the sectors towards net zero. This latest round invites agri-tech businesses, researchers, farmers, growers and foresters to apply for a share of £8 million in funding to develop projects that address major on-farm or immediate post-farmgate challenges and opportunities.

Proposals should benefit either livestock, plants, novel food production systems, or bioeconomy and agroforestry.

This funding has been allocated for business-led consortia that:

  • include at least 1 small or medium sized enterprise
  • involve at least 1 grant claiming academic institution, research and technology organisation, charity, not-for-profit or public sector organisation

The competition opens on the 20th February 2023 and closes on the 19th April 2023.

This funding round has a 2-stage assessment process including an interview stage.
