Grants Available for Organisations Promoting Diversity in Physics (UK)

Community groups, not-for-profit organisations, Institute of Physics members, researchers in academia or industry, museums, libraries, and arts groups can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to promote engagement with physics among young people who are underrepresented in the physics community.

This is part of the updated Public Engagement Grant Scheme (PEGS) which now supports the Limit Less grant scheme. The Limit Less grant scheme aims to build strong relationships between physics and diverse communities by developing engagement projects with families with young people under the age of 16 who identify with groups such as girls and young women, disabled youth, LGBT+ youth, disadvantaged youth, and Black Caribbean youth.

The new framework for the grant scheme takes into account issues such as equality, diversity, and inclusion, the digital divide, and personal wellbeing. It is informed by the learning from the last few years in relation to these areas.

The grants aim to develop relationships between physics and public participants and reinforce messages delivered by existing engagement schemes by adapting to new locations, communities or circumstances. They will help build strong relationships between physics, physicists and diverse communities through co-developed and co-delivered engagement projects.

The deadline of 5 pm on the 24th March 2023. The minimum grant award is £500, and the maximum is £5,000. The grants will fund physics-based activities in the UK and Ireland.
