Funding for Africa-UK Physics Research Projects (UK)
UK research organisations can apply for a share of £5 million in funding for collaborative physics-led projects addressing challenges affecting sub-Saharan Africa.
The funding, which is made available by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), will support researchers from the UK and sub-Saharan Africa (Ghana, Kenya, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda) to work collaboratively to address the challenges of:
- climate change
- energy
- capacity building across African economies
The funding will support:
- collaborative projects strengthening relationships between UK and SSA researchers
- projects that support gender inclusivity
- projects that strengthen existing in-country partnerships
- projects that support networking, capacity building, training and upskilling in physics
- projects that strengthen existing in-country partnerships and support research-related knowledge exchange and impact activities
- projects that address challenges specific to the African context
STFC will fund 80% of the full economic cost of ten to fifteen projects lasting up to 24 months. STFC will fund 100% of the costs for international applicants.
The Africa-UK Physics Partnership Programme closes to applications at 4pm on the 17th September 2024.
