Funding to Support Grassroots Music (England)

Arts Council England has announced that its Supporting Grassroots Music Fund has reopened to applications.

The Fund offers grants of up to £40,000 for projects lasting up to three years, supporting grassroots music venues, and promoters to strengthen and develop their work.

Those eligible to apply include:

  • venues for live and electronic music performance
  • music festivals
  • promoters
  • recording studios
  • rehearsal studios/spaces
  • sector bodies operating in grassroots music

The fund aims to improve opportunities for music creators, particularly those early in their careers, by expanding access to rehearsal and recording spaces, supporting touring activity, and enhancing the sustainability of small venues.

This might include support for:

  • Audience development
  • Artist/Talent development
  • Live programming
  • Infrastructure improvements
  • Developing touring networks
  • Trailing new ideas

Applications are encouraged from organisations working across all genres, including electronic, hip-hop and grime, indie and alternative, metal and punk, and pop/rock.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and require 10% match funding.

To be considered in the next round, proposals must be received by the 18th September 2025.
