Grant News
Grants of up to £10,000 are available to UK registered charities for projects that improve homes and accommodation, or provide home-starter kits, for people in need.
The funding is provided by the B&Q Foundation to help individuals and families facing homelessness, domestic abuse, disability, illness, or financial hardship feel safer, more settled, and better supported in their homes.
There are two funding streams available.
The Home Improvement Fund provides grants of up to £10,000 for projects that improve charity-managed homes and accommodation. Funding can be used for essential improvements such as decorating, roof repairs, garden refurbishment, upgrading fixtures and fittings, and creating new rooms or buildings. Projects must usually be completed within 12 months.
The Home-Starter Kits Fund provides grants of up to £10,000, with a maximum of £500 per kit, to help charities purchase and distribute essential household items to individuals setting up a home. This includes white goods, small electrical goods, curtains, lighting, soft furnishings, basic repair materials, and gift cards to cover immediate needs.
Applicants must be registered UK charities with at least one year of operation, published annual accounts and a current safeguarding policy. Applications are made through Neighbourly, and decisions are usually made within 12 weeks. The closing date for applications is 14 August 2026.
